Techniques and Crafts:
Each fine stone is shaped in direct cutting using diamond tools. This glyptician work is carried out by me in my workshop in the medieval village of Cordes-sur-Ciel in Tarn. All the operations necessary for the production are carried out in our premises: sculpture, foundry, setting and polishing.
Symbolic:
The pig :
In Chinese astrology, the Pig is a blessed sign. The word “Tchou” (pig) wards off malicious spirits. In the Far East, many amulets bearing the image of the pig are made as lucky charms, a symbol of abundance.
Among the Egyptians, the female pig is a symbol of fertility. It represents Nut, the beneficial goddess installed in the celestial vault and mother of the stars. Women made offerings to him to ensure they had many children.
The Celts also respected the pig, considered introduced by fairies and companion of the Druids. Merlin the Enchanter, of Arthurian legend and medieval Welsh poetry, himself had a piglet as his faithful companion.
Jade:
In Asia, jade is the stone of nobility of soul and power. In China, he embodies the five cardinal virtues: charity, modesty, courage, justice and wisdom.
- “The very symbol of Yang, it is endowed with solar, imperial, indestructible qualities” (CHGH).
- “It serves as a channel for the celestial and earthly influences of Yang and Ying” (MARQ).
- Since ancient times, the imperial seal has been made of jade, symbolizing the royal function and the "Heavenly Mandate".
Amber:
Among the Etruscans, amber symbolized the cosmic bond, attesting to the existence of life after death (PARK). Amber represents the psychic thread connecting individual energy to cosmic energy, the link between the individual soul and the universal soul (CHGH).
Ancient Beliefs:
- On the Gallo-Roman site of Locmariaquer in Morbihan, pierced pig's teeth were discovered, coming from bracelets and/or necklaces. The canines of this mammal were considered to have a strong protective power.
- In the northeast of the Italian peninsula, a pig painted on the door of the house protects against night visions and nightmares (CHGH).
- In Greek mythology, the Trojan prince Aeneas, guided by the presence of a female pig and her thirty cubs, founded the city of Lavinium.
